It’s no secret you don’t need reservations at a 5-star restaurant to enjoy some of the best food in the United States. Food trucks make it easy to find unique, creative and quality cuisine that’s accessible and affordable, and they’ve become so popular there are now several festivals popping up around the country to showcase the best in food truck cuisine. Here are a few of our favorites.
Columbus Food Truck Festival
This annual three-day summer event showcases Ohio’s unique cuisine with more than 70 of the state’s best trucks, accompanied by live music, local art and activities. Popular local trucks include Tatoheads, famous for its fries and creative dipping sauces and Schmidt’s Sausage Truck.
Chicago Food Truck Festival
Held in June, the Chicago Food Truck Festival presents the city’s best trucks and vendors with live music and entertainment. Popular trucks include The Fat Shallot, one of the most popular U.S. trucks, and Gino’s Steak Truck for incredible steak and chips.
L.A. Street Food Fest
This festival, which takes place in Pasadena’s Rose Bowl, boasts more than 100 vendors offering local and international cuisine. Visit the Grilled Cheese Truck or the Aloha Plate for traditional Hawai’ian fare. Mexican food favorites include Mariscos El Mazateño and Tacos Kokopelli. There’s also an iced coffee lounge and a Tequila Tasting Tent.
Atlanta Street Food Festival
Nothing says southern cooking like the Atlanta Street Food Festival, a world-renowned food festival held every year at Piedmont Park in July, offering a vast array of traditional southern foods and international fare.
Seattle Street Food Festival
The Seattle Street Food Festival was started to put the Seattle culinary scene on the map and to support local businesses, and it now boasts more than 50 trucks and local food booths and attracts more than 85,000 guests over the course of the three-day festival. Truck lineups include Brown Bag Baguette, Evolution Revolution and Tokyo Dog.
Street Eats Food Truck Festival
The Street Easts Food Truck Festival in Scottsdale offers dozens of trucks, cooking demos, live bands and eating contests. The two-day festival is the largest collection of food trucks in the Southwest. It takes place in late January or early February at the Salt River Fields in Scottsdale.
Taste the Three Cities
This impressive gathering brings together more than 60 food trucks from Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. In addition to enjoying great food, guests can watch food competitions between the three cities, judged by local celebrities, food experts and festival attendees. Try LaCakerie, The Cow and The Curd, Philly’s Finest Sambonis and the Korean BBQ Taco Box.
