Yangshuo, located southeast of Gulin in the northeast of the Guanxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, provides rippling rivers and breathtaking countryside to explore.
This destination has a diverse, traditional culture; ancient, historic value; and incredible geography, making it incredibly beautiful and interesting to behold.
The best ways to explore the scenic area are hiking and cycling. Prices start at ¥20 for a mountain bike; take a self-guided ride or go on a private guided tour with a small group with Bike Asia. Tours are around $45 for the Yangshuo Countryside Cycling option. This tour takes you through quiet backroads and to hidden gems of the countryside. Bike Asia also offers a mountain tour and bamboo boat tour with a higher price point.
Yangshuo also has plenty of free activities to experience. Hiking along the beautiful Yulong River is among one of the most popular things to do here. Enjoy verdant hills and pristine scenery away from the bustle of the city.
Take a hike up to Moon Hill, about five miles south of Yangshuo. The huge, moon-shaped hole is a stunning site. Explore the well-preserved Ming Dynasty architecture and fine wood carvings in Xingpin; the area also has some of the best natural scenery in the area.
