Enjoy breakfast at Miller’s Seawall Grill. This no-frills establishment serves giant breakfasts for a reasonable price. Many people recommend ordering the Moby Dick, only $14.
Start the day with a free ferry ride between Galveston Island and the Bolivar Peninsula. Many travelers see dolphins on the ride and, even if there are no dolphins, the view is still beautiful. It’s a great way to begin the day, but don’t go if you think you’ll get seasick after eating breakfast. The view is breathtaking in the morning, especially on clear sunny days.
For outdoorsy people, make your way to the Galveston Island State Park. It’s a $5 parking charge to get into the park. They offer kayak tours, beach and surf explorations, bird walks, nature field trips and fishing clinics. The best part is it’s all at no cost, but many activities do require an advance sign-up.
End the day at the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, which has one rollercoaster, 15 rides, carnival games and souvenirs. Budget about $70 to cover rides and to munch on food at the pier. The entrance fee is about $30, but there are some games that cost money anyway and you’ll want money for souvenirs.
