The charming seaside town of Lyme Regis is a great place to spend a day relaxing by the sea. Here’s how you can do it on a budget.
Head out for breakfast at The Beach House Café, and you can eat while you look over the sandy beach. The menu is extensive, with favorites such as avocado toast proving popular ($12). After breakfast, walk around town and make your way to Town Mill, housing a variety of local businesses. Check out the incredible pottery workshop, art gallery and jewelry shop, all set in a 14th-century watermill.
For lunch, go to Millside. This modern British eatery leans heavily on traditional West Country ingredients, and the results are delicious. Try and get a table on the small terrace if it’s a sunny day ($25).
In the afternoon, take a walking tour with Lyme History Walks to learn more about the long history of the town, or take a few hours to sunbathe on the beach. Head to the Cobb Arms if you fancy a drink ($5), and then treat yourself to dinner at HIX Oyster & Fish House. It’s a fancy spot with great views over the bay, and the food is amazing ($40).
