Cruises

Are you planning on taking a cruise this year? If so, you won’t be alone. Squaremouth recently released data indicating 2024 will be a big year for cruising.

The travel insurance marketplace reported, in 2023, more travel insurance shoppers bought cruise-related travel insurance than they had in the company’s entire history (so more than two decades). Year over year, 2023 cruise-specific travel insurance sales increased by nearly 30 percent. Compared to 2021, 2023 showed a whopping 200 percent increase in sales. Now, Squaremouth expects the trend to continue, with a 6 percent increase in travelers reporting they’re planning a cruise in early 2024, over those who said they were planning a cruise in early 2023.

If you’re among those eager cruise planners, Squaremouth suggests not waiting until after wave season (the time of year when cruises are historically most affordable, lasting January–March; for example, Princess Cruises’ wave season sale gives cruisers up to 40 percent off and free room upgrades when you book before Feb. 29) to book your cruise, and ensuring any insurance purchased for the cruise covers medical needs overseas, as well as travel disruptions.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
