Most major cities host restaurant weeks. This event gives diners a chance to sample a selection of dishes from popular restaurants at a discount. Three- or four-course fixed-price menus are most common. Experiencing your city’s restaurant week can seem overwhelming, particularly if you live in a larger city. Follow our tips to make the most out of your restaurant week experience.
- Scope out the menus. Most restaurant week events have a dedicated website with a list of participating restaurants. Search the menus before deciding on a place.
- Weigh your options. If you find a participating restaurant you would like to try, but aren’t impressed with the menu, don’t waste your time. Dine there when the full menu is available.
- Go to lunch. Restaurants with lunch and dinner deals often have similar menu items for each service. Lunch typically costs at least $10 less than dinner.
- Think outside the box. Take this opportunity to try an ingredient, dish or restaurant you haven’t tried before.
- Make reservations. Restaurant week is a popular event and reservations, especially at top restaurants, can fill up fast. Call the restaurant directly, or check availability on OpenTable to secure your spot.
- Dine often. There’s no rule saying you can only try one place during restaurant week. Take advantage and dine out as often as you’d like.
