If you’re attempting to book a trip cheaply, you may look to Hotwire or Priceline … but Walmart? While travelers have been able to book trips through membership clubs like Costco for years, Walmart recently joined the array of retailers selling you a vacation.
In order to book travel through Walmart, travelers must be a member of Walmart+. From there, they’re able to book trips through WalmartPlusTravel.com. The booking platform even has a rewards program of sorts, with members earning a percentage of Walmart Cash on hotel stays, vacation rentals, car rentals, vacation packages and travel activities.
The new platform is made possible via a partnership with Expedia. As such, travelers can use the platform to book travel with more than 900,000 properties, 500-plus airlines and 100-plus car rental agencies. Customer service is provided via Expedia, as well.
“We’re bringing together the ultimate savings membership and vacation booking site to deliver a first-ever, travel-focused benefit for Walmart+ members,” said Venessa Yates, senior vice president and general manager, Walmart+. “Combined with our other benefits — including free delivery, streaming and savings on fuel — we’re creating a membership that saves customers time and money, whether they’re at home or having fun at their favorite vacation destination.”
