Bill Murray announced plans to open a Caddyshack bar outside Chicago in a new project with his five brothers. The siblings have a verbal agreement in place to open the golf-themed bar inside a Rosemont, Ill. hotel.
The bar will be located northwest of Chicago, near O’Hare International Airport. Rosemont is about 10 miles away from the Murrays’ childhood home.
Bill Murray, of course, was the star of the 1980 cult classic movie Caddyshack, a golf club comedy in which he plays the gopher-obsessed greenskeeper Carl Spackler. The screenplay was co-written by his brother Brian Doyle Murray, and inspired by the pair’s caddying experience as teenagers. All six brothers were inducted into the Western Golf Association Caddie Hall of Fame in 2015.
The brothers opened the Murray Bros. Caddyshack restaurant and bar in 2001 at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. The bar is overseen by chef Andy Murray, and serves food like burgers, wings and nachos and includes a game room plus a souvenir and golf shop.
