Despite Hollywood’s reputation for focusing on appearances and pretenses, there are still some places to find a down-to-earth, heartwarming meal. Café Gratitude is the place to go for lovingly crafted plant-based cuisine. Their menu is entirely organic and most of the food comes from regenerative Be Love Farm in San Francisco.
Grab a spot at the bar or choose an outdoor table and prepare yourself for a gourmet vegan meal. Despite the silly sounding menu names like I am Grateful or I am Magical, the food is worth raving about. Be sure to check out the seasonal specials first.
Start with a refreshing Wellness Elixir or spritzer. Try the popular Elevated spritzer, a rose-water lemonade made with rose water, lemon, agave, sparkling water and a drop of beet juice for $8.
Share a tasty Abundant, a Sicilian antipasto plate with creamy cultured cashew macadamia cheese with saffron, pickled vegetables, fennel salad and toasted gluten-free sourdough slices for $16. Choose from a variety of satisfying entrees, like the Liberated, pesto kelp noodles, or the Resolved, a Southern soul food sampler.
Don’t forget to order dessert. Try the Adoring, a raw tiramisu with raw almond biscuit, coconut cashew cream, espresso and raw cacao for $9. Top the meal off with a local beer, wine or signature cocktail.
Café Gratitude will give you something to be grateful for and may even leave you in a more peaceful state of mind, at least until you get to the freeways.
