While many people think of beer and Oktoberfest when Bavaria pops up in conversation, there is far more to Germany’s wealthiest region.
First of all, Bavaria covers a huge amount of ground, from the Austrian and Swiss borders to the south and almost to Frankfurt in the north. Contained within its limits are Munich, Nuremberg and other large cities such as Augsburg, along with a huge number of extravagant castles.
These castles provide the perfect venue for a fairy-tale wedding. Burg Wernberg and Schloss Bergellern are two good options, while those looking for the ultimate Cinderella wedding should check out Neuschwanstein castle. The picturesque castle allegedly inspired Walt Disney to draw the famous Sleeping Beauty castle, and you can arrange for your ceremony to take place on the lawn.
Guests can spend a few days in Munich visiting some of the famous beer houses and museums, or head into the stunning countryside for a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. Munich is well served by flights from around the world, and Frankfurt to the north has become an international hub, making access easy.
Plan your wedding between June and August to take advantage of the balmy summer months, and avoid the cold, snowy winter. Bavaria will enchant and enthrall both the lucky couple and their guests, providing a truly memorable experience for your big day.
