Food & Drink

For those that eat out often, the idea of a typical candle-lit dinner can perhaps become a bit trite. Unique dining locales are constantly being sought out, but often hard to find. However, the founders of Dinner In The Sky created an answer to this problem, and it’s as simple as looking up.

Started in May 2006, this Belgian-based company realized the potential and appeal of combining gourmet chefs with incredible, panoramic views. With the help of a crane, they suspended a platform and dinner table high above the ground and let their guests dine among the heavens.

The popularity of their invention gave rise to events in 45 cities around the world. From these heights, dinner guests can watch the sunset on the amazing, picturesque sights from cities like Sao Paulo, Las Vegas, Dubai, Cape Town and Sydney, among others. Dinner In The Sky is constantly expanding their scope and introducing new dining experiences in different areas. They’ve even hosted events like Poker In The Sky, Beach Bar In The Sky and Opera In The Sky.

For those worried about safety, it is important to note Dinner In The Sky does not use traditional dinner seating on their platforms. Rather they use secure, pivoting, stationary seating to keep guests in place, and out of harm’s way. While there is no age requirement to dine, all guests must be above 150 centimeters (about 5 feet).

Contrary to what many believe, there are restroom facilities available to those enjoying the Dinner In The Sky. It takes a minute for the table to descend to the ground, and about the same time to rise back up once bathroom-goers have finished.
