Grand Hotel Guayaquil

The Grand Hotel Guayaquil is not the most luxurious hotel in the city, but it does offer quite a bit of bang for your buck. While staying here, I was impressed with the friendly and courteous staff, beautifully decorated interior and comfortable beds.

The location of the Grand Hotel was the high point. It was within walking distance of the Catedral Metropolitana, the Museo Antropologico and the Malecon 2000. There were plenty of shopping and dining options nearby, as well, and I felt no need to rent a car to get around. Public transportation was just a few steps outside the front door.

Inside there was a health club that I admittedly didn’t get much use out of, but was nice to have nearby. There were two courts for squash alongside a sauna, and a terrace with excellent views of the cathedral. The outdoor pool and solarium with a working waterfall were nice touches. The rooms were clearly older, but decorated well. The windows were large for the size of the rooms and let in plenty of sunlight. The bathrooms were impressively sized, and each room we had offered a desk where I was able to get work done.

The comfortable accommodations and excellent location came together to make it a great stay during my trip to Guayaquil. While anyone seeking out luxury might be disappointed, it’s certainly a great value for anyone wanting a nice place to stay without breaking the bank.
