Located inside the behemoth King of Prussia Mall, the Grand Lux Café offers a menu with as broad a selection as the shopping destination. During a recent shopping trip, we found ourselves close to the restaurant during lunchtime. There was a wait, but the hostess assured us we would be seated in 20 minutes. About 10 minutes later, our buzzer went off and we were on our way to our table.
It was a Sunday and we arrived early enough in the day to order from the weekend brunch menu. There were many tempting items, including a fried chicken and waffle dish, but I decided instead to order from the lunch menu. For the table to start, we ordered fried calamari. The tender, lightly-fried calamari also came with fried shrimp, zucchini and onion. The dish was so perfectly crunchy and addictive that I had a hard time putting down my fork. The drink selection was substantial. Not feeling adventurous enough for a mid-day cocktail, I ordered a Blue Moon Belgian White on tap. I ordered the southwestern salad as my main. Chili-roasted chicken, fresh corn, black beans, tortilla strips, avocado and pepper jack cheese were tossed with lettuce in a honey-lime vinaigrette. The bold flavors mixed well for a balanced dish. My only complaint was there were too many tortilla strips in relation to the amount of other ingredients.
If you find yourself in King of Prussia Mall, stop by the Grand Lux Café and fuel up for your next round of shopping.
