While enjoying a trip to another country or state can be an amazing experience, many travelers struggle to maintain their diet. Part of traveling involves removing yourself from your regular schedule, causing irregular meal times that your metabolism has a hard time adjusting to. Additionally, travelers often wish to let loose and splurge on heavy meals and drinks. For this reason, it is important for dieters to plan their eating wisely, and consider a few techniques.
Sample
Many travelers wish to try all of the local delicacies when hopping from place to place. Instead of getting multiple portions, try splitting a sample platter with a friend or significant other. Or, if you get a full meal, save half and take it home to enjoy the next day for lunch or dinner. You’ll save money in the process and won’t have to worry about your waistline.
Drink Smart
For some travelers, drinking alcohol is a large part of the experience. If possible, try to stick to low-calorie drinks like wines and dark liquors. Conversely, stay away from beers and liqueurs. Additionally, try creating a drinking regiment. Drink only at night, or only with meals. Moreover, drink plenty of water to keep your metabolism going.
Counterbalance
Sometimes, eating and drinking in moderation might not be enough on their own. To combat the excessive calorie intake, many travelers choose to walk or hike to their destinations, instead of driving or taking cabs everywhere.
