It truly is a great restaurant and bar; Mike who the bar is named after, attended the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, so his food is spot on and has daily and nightly specials, as well as themed fixed-price meals. His Nights In Thailand are truly special.
The menu has a bit of everything and everything is done well. Mike’s serves all three meals each day and opens early and generally closes around 10 p.m. Additionally, they have the best Internet and as long you’re eating or drinking, you can spend all day there.
I say this, as Mike’s was my destination for a burger one afternoon in Boquete (fantastic burger). It became my office and watering hole for the next six months where I often run a tab paid down at the end of the week rather than constant trips to the ATM. I don’t promise you the same treatment.
To the bar, Mike’s offers a great brunch with five-ounce Bloody Mary offerings, at least six TVs and a willingness to put on your game when asked.
If you’re a day drinker, there is a good chance Mike will join you. It’s a nice bar to meet expats, locals and tourists on any given night.
Weekends mean live music if not other nights as well.
