The number of millennials who are putting off the perfect career, marriage and children in order to explore the world are the fastest growing group of people spending their disposable incomes on the experience of travel. Based on recent findings from U.S. News and World Report, travelers between the ages of 18 and 35 rank the following countries as their favorite spots to visit.
Canada
A quick jaunt across the border to the north is where the under-21 group of travelers find a lower drinking age, and where the rest go to get lost in the cosmopolitan cities of Toronto and Vancouver, and to reconnect with miles upon miles of natural wonder. Canada is easy to access by car, train or plane from anywhere in the United States, and the proximity and low cost make the country a viable option for a long weekend.
Germany
It is no surprise the land of beer and bratwurst ranks high among millennials. When travelers aren´t roaming from beer hall to brat stand, they can hike the through the dense Black Forest or stunning Alps and visit some of the world´s most well preserved medieval towns.
United Kingdom
The UK offers a myriad of benefits for young travelers, the most important of which may be the lack of a language barrier. Visitors can view the exteriors of most attractions for free (Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Parliament) and take part in pub crawls with the locals.
Japan
As far as the Far East is concerned, millennials who seek a baby step into the world of culture shock tend to flock to Japan. Shopping, dining and alternative ways of living contribute to the growth of young travelers´ cultural curiosity.
