New Orleans Marriott recently unveiled Harmonious Elements, a new mural from artist Shepard Fairey. The large-scale artwork celebrates the city’s connection to art and dynamic culture.
The mural blends layered imagery, such as vinyl records, brass instruments, and a central female figure symbolizing hope and perseverance. Local jazz icons are depicted as angels, while life complexities are seen as torn elements in the mural. The blooming lotus flower depicts resilience in the face of adversity. The globe motif in the lower corner highlights New Orleans’ global influence.
“New Orleans has always been a source of inspiration for me, and this mural pays tribute to the artists who have defined the city’s identity,” said Fairey. “The New Orleans Marriott’s commitment to integrating cultural aspects with their guest experiences made the hotel the perfect home base for Harmonious Elements.”
Serving as a cultural hub in the heart of the French Quarter, the hotel is well known for offering immersive experiences beyond their guestrooms, like a complimentary city tour experience and more. Check out the property’s special rates and exclusive experiences during major cultural events like Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest.
“Art has always been a vital part of the New Orleans Marriott cultural fabric, and we are honored to collaborate with Shepard Fairey to bring this inspiring piece to life on our hotel walls,” said Frank Zumbo, general manager, New Orleans Marriott. “The mural transforms our corner of Chartres and Canal Street into a vibrant landmark reflecting the spirit of the city.”
