Urban Farmhouse Market & Cafe is located in an old warehouse now decorated with art from local artists and hosts local musicians a few nights a week. But this restaurant’s bread and butter is its food menu, a healthy variety of freshly made sandwiches, salads and sweets all from local, eco-friendly suppliers. Since its opening in 2010, the restaurant built and nurtured relationships with nearby farmers and growers to bring city dwellers a taste of the farm in the middle of Richmond.

Start your weekend morning with something from the breakfast menu, served until 2 p.m. on weekends and including dishes like Virginia Country Ham and Egg or Virginia Bacon and Egg, both of which are hormone-free, with cage-free eggs and on Campagne bread from Richmond’s Flour Garden Bakery.

When the weather is warm and sunny, grab a seat at the tables next to the floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto the cobblestone streets of Shockoe Slip.
