There’s a new player in town for the title of best souvenir or gift idea. It’s unique, personal, local and much more meaningful than a coffee mug.
Did we mention it comes out of a vending machine?
A company called SouveNEAR unveiled their new concept of vending machines that dispense art made by local artists.
The vending machines feature a range of products. Traditional art such as paintings and drawings are featured alongside jewelry, soap and stationary, all of it made locally, curated by the company and stocked into their weirdly paradoxical vending machines. But rest assured: Each painting, each piece of art, is original and designed for the enterprise, though many are reprints. The art ranges from $2.50 to $40, depending on what piece you select as a memento.
Currently, SouveNEAR has an art vending machine in the Kansas City Airport. They also sell the artwork at various other locations around Missouri and Kansas, but they hope to expand their line of vending machines by this summer.
Here’s hoping this great idea catches on quickly and saves travelers from buying cheap, mass-produced bottle openers and t-shirts.
