Japanese cuisine is some of the most delicious in Asia and Osaka is no slouch when it comes to crafting delectable treats. Here are the five restaurants you need to try.
Mizuno
Okonomiyaki is one of Japan’s most scrumptious dishes and there’s only one place that does it justice in Osaka – Mizuno. Their Japanese pancakes have been churned out of the kitchen since World War II, making it the oldest okonomiyaki eatery in the city. Favored among locals is Mizuno’s unique Yam Okonomiyaki, which is made from yam instead of flour.
Patisserie Mon Cher
Patisserie Mon Cher whips out classic European pastries with a Japanese twist. Their Dojima Roll in particular is beloved by Japanese folks all over; they sell 10,000 rolls every day.
Kuma Kafe
Sometimes you crave a taste of home when you’re overseas, and Kuma Kafe is a great place to find it. It’s easily the favorite restaurant in Osaka to find Western food and their pizza is definitely to die for.
Zuboraya
Zuboraya is as famous for its food as it is the giant globefish sign marking its existence. It’s one of the best spots in town to taste tecchiri, a hotspot dish made from globefish. A little side of saki helps it go down just a little easier.
Saeki
Visiting Osaka without trying fresh, local sushi is almost blasphemous, which is why you’ll need to spend an evening at Saeki. Often touted as the best sushi restaurant in the city, it’s also kind of exclusive. There are only 10 seats available at the counter, so you’ll want to book ahead of time to get a seat.
