While most know Booking.com as an online service for finding deals on hotels and resorts, the brand recently ventured into the culinary travel world by releasing their new Foodie’s Guide to the Globe. The guide draws from guest and user reviews left on Booking.com, by evaluating endorsement strength on food experiences in a certain destination (as opposed to another kind of travel activity, such as shopping, nightlife, etc.).

“The exploration of food as the purpose of traveling is growing fast and food commentary is prevalent in the accommodation reviews submitted by Booking.com guests on our website,” said Pepijn Rijvers, chief marketing officer. “This map for gastro-globetrotters shows the best places for essential food experiences based on the experts themselves, our travelers.”

The top 15 destinations, according to the guide, are stretched out across the Americas, Europe and Asia almost equally. The United States can lay claim to three — Hershey, New Orleans and Lodi. Never heard of Lodi? This destination is a wine-lover’s paradise in central California. International cities on the list of top spots include some destinations one would definitely expect, such as Naples for pizza, Belgium for waffles, Valencia for paella or Tokyo for sushi. There are a few additions, however, you may not be expecting — Booking.com users say the best beer comes from Plzen, Czech Republic, and the best breakfast is in Trang, Thailand.
