Staying in the Portuguese capital can be a thrifty experience if you know where to go. Start with finding a nice budget place to lay your head at night.
Lisbon Central Hostel is, well, right in the middle of the city. It’s a great location next to Marques de Pombal Metro, and walking distance from many of the top attractions. There are both dorm and private rooms available.
Good Morning Hostel is also centrally located and offers comfortable beds in dorms or privates. The staff is known to be incredibly helpful and welcoming, so it’s a good place to start if you are looking to book daytrips from the city.
The Independente Hostel is right near Rossio train station, and is housed inside the former residence of the Swiss ambassador to Portugal. It’s at the confluence of Bairro Alto, Principe Real and Chiado neighborhoods, all known for vibrant street life.
Perhaps the best located hostel for keen sightseers is Home Hostel Lisbon. It’s in the Baixa district, with many of the top sights nearby.
For a more luxurious hostel experience, check out Lisbon Poets Hostel. It’s by Chiado Metro and offers great views over the surrounding area.
