Normally when people plan a cruise they want to go somewhere tropical so they can head to the beach. Everyone tends to overlook cruises to the colder destinations, but they have a lot to offer. Next time you are looking for a cruise don’t scoff at a cruise to Antarctica.
Cruising to Antarctica is an amazing experience with many different itineraries. One of the classic cruises takes you through the most popular destinations along the coast. Begin the trip with a voyage through the Drake Passage, known to be rough so make sure you prepare for possible sea sickness.
While sailing you will see breathtaking icebergs, penguin rookeries, seals just hanging around and maybe some whales. Once you get to land you will have a chance to get up close and personal with some of Antarctica’s famous wildlife, including the penguins. Also on land you will get to explore a more of Antarctica’s landscape.
Some cruise itineraries allow you to kayak, which will get you even closer to some of the icebergs and wildlife. If you choose to kayak, be careful and aware of your surroundings.
