How to be a Tourist in Your Hometown

Hometowns are sometimes the most unexplored places. Sure, everyone knows where is the best pizza place and where everyone goes for a good drink, but what about the hidden gems? Most people look outside of their hometown for captivating adventures, but sometimes the best adventures are waiting around the corner. Exploring your hometown is a great activity to do with friends and easier to coordinate than a trip overseas. You can find great places to eat and ways to spend time without breaking the bank.

The easiest way to make a hometown feel like a new adventure is to rent a room. Pretend you’re visiting this place for the first time and treat it like a new destination. Book a room at a local bed and breakfast and let yourself fall in love with your hometown. From the moment you step into that bed and breakfast or hotel, your hometown becomes a new place to explore.

Act like a tourist and find out if there are any special events or tours you can book. Historic tours are great for learning about the hidden facts that weren’t taught in school. Visit local attractions that maybe you haven’t visited in awhile or want to look at with new eyes. There might be a place you haven’t visited, yet always wanted to.

Try out a restaurant you’ve never been to before or go to a familiar restaurant and order something new. The point is to make this visit to your town different than an everyday walk through the park. Search out new places and discover things about your home previously unknown to you.
