If you’re going to brave the harsh Arctic-like conditions of Greenland’s ice sheets, you might as well do it in luxury. Natural Habitat is offering a safari-style camp in one of the most isolated places on Earth — East Greenland.
The remote region of Greenland is home to enormous icebergs, whales and the Sermilik Fjord complex. It’s an area rarely explored by the casual traveler and, until recently, the only way in was by hiking or kayaking along the waters but Natural Habitat will ferry you in by helicopter so you’re still rested and ready to explore when you arrive.
During your stay you’ll explore the ice sheets, spot local wildlife up close, hike, kayak and interact with local Inuit tribes. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience few others will ever understand.
You’ll camp in style in a totally immersive experience but won’t have to forgo the comforts of home. The basecamp contains hot showers, private toilets and meals prepared by a chef. The campsite only hosts 15 travelers at a time, so you won’t feel overwhelmed or surrounded by hordes of tourists while you explore. Safety gear is top of the line and you’ll be in the hands of experienced guides the entire time.
Natural Habitat also partners with the World Wildlife Foundation, so you know you’ll be experiencing up-close and exotic encounters with local flora and fauna without leaving behind a horrible impact.
The trip lasts nine days and costs around $10,000, depending on the season.
