Patras certainly isn’t lacking in great places to eat and I was lucky enough to dine at Labyrinthos thanks to the suggestion of a guest staying in my hotel. It’s tucked away on a little side street, which makes it hard to find, but it’s worth the search and locals here are certainly happy to help point the way.
This beautifully decorated tavern serves traditional Greek food at great prices, with meals seeming to run around €10 on average. The staff here is friendly and professional, and happy to offer advice on which meals to try in case you’re new to Greek cuisine.
I sampled the katsikaki, which the waiter explained was baby goat in olive oil. They also offered homemade liquor at no cost, though I’m not sure that’s normal. It was delicious, whatever the case.
The atmosphere was laidback and friendly and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. It’s not exactly the place to go with a group as the seating doesn’t lend itself well to chatting among friends, but for a relaxing meal with a friend or two, or even a date, it’s pretty perfect. As someone who’s not the biggest fan of Greek food, I was pleasantly surprised by everything I tasted here.
