Under $100 / Europe

Cork is a vibrant city often overlooked for the more popular Dublin. It has some famous sites and great places to eat. The city is considered the real capital of Ireland by locals and is a can’t-miss destination in Ireland.

For breakfast, begin your day at the widely popular restaurant, Liberty Grill. It has an all-day brunch menu that uses local and regional ingredients. The dishes are amazing, and the prices reflect that. Plan to spend around $25.

Head to the University College Cork and enjoy the academic atmosphere. Deep on campus, there is the Main Quadrangle, the oldest part of the college. It dates back almost 170 years. There, visitors can see some of the earliest forms of writing in Ireland. There are symbols carved onto the stones. This place is free to visit and explore.

After that, visit a beautiful cathedral that only costs $5 to enter. Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral is filled with sculptures and mosaics. It is truly a sight to behold and worth the money. There is also some history that comes with the cathedral. Grab a guide on the way in to learn more about the giant cannonball sitting in the church.

For dinner, head to a local favorite, Cafe Paradiso. This restaurant specializes in vegetarian dishes that are so good, you’ll forget you’re a carnivore. Most visitors recommend the king oyster mushrooms, but feel free to choose anything off the menu. Pair a good drink with your meal and it will cost around $50.
