Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

The most southwestern point in mainland Britain is a famous landmark, and one that attracts many visitors each year.

Stand atop the granite cliffs, rising 200 feet from the Atlantic, and you can spot Longships Lighthouse and the Isles of Sicily in the distance. Beyond that, it’s open water all the way to North America at Land’s End in Cornwall.

Soak up the view and take a picture with the famous signpost, and then go for a walk around the cliff top. There is also a farm where you can meet the animals, and a 4-D cinema showing a variety of films. You don’t have to pay to visit Land’s End itself, but these activities do incur a charge.

However the best attractions are outside, surrounded by nature. Keen birdwatchers will love Land’s End, where gannets, razorbills and kittiwakes soar in the sky. There are also basking sharks, grey seals and dolphins in the waters below the cliffs, but you’ll have to be lucky to see them.

Land’s End is about 10 miles from Penzance, where you can get a train to London. The best way to visit the area is on a trip around Cornwall, starting in Penzance and taking in Land’s End, Polzeath and St Ives before circling around to Lizard Point, Porthleven and Prussia Cove.
