Why Choose an Airbnb on the Greek Islands

Tips / Destination

When you visit the Greek Islands you’ve got lots of options for places to stay, but deciding whether to stay in a hotel or a vacation rental can make a big difference in how your trip plays out. Hotels have a lot going for them, like housekeeping services and complimentary breakfasts, but sometimes these amenities just aren’t enough.

Unless you’re willing to shell out big bucks for a luxury hotel, most hotels on the islands are geared toward giving guests a cheap place to stay. Bathrooms are small, beds are uncomfortable, and that free continental breakfast may not live up to your expectations.

Vacation properties like those offered on Airbnb are often similarly priced or cheaper and offer you much more comfortable accommodation. These houses are often originally built for locals, meaning they were planning on some creature comforts.

While you won’t have anyone making you breakfast in the mornings, you will have the freedom to buy groceries and make meals that you’ll want rather than suffer through someone else’s idea of breakfast.

Greeks value a nice view and it is evident in the way they build their homes. Vacation rentals are no exception — most Airbnb properties on the Greek Islands come with patios that offer stellar views of the sea, the sunset or both. Having this at your rental gives you the freedom to relax at home and enjoy the views at your leisure.

The Greek people are known for their hospitable nature and that’s often a bonus when renting a property from a local. They want you to enjoy their homeland as much as they do, so property owners are often willing to share insider tips with renters to make sure you have the best stay possible.

United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
