We arrived at El Vez for brunch and the restaurant was quite crowded and lively. The restaurant offers a special brunch menu as well as the option to choose from their normal lunch menu.
I decided to try the Cochino Caliente Bloody Mary, which was a bit too spicy for my liking. I was more than satisfied with the El Vez Signature margarita.
To start off, we ordered the Macho Nachos. Delicious! While, I typically expect a mountain high of chips topped with the standard nacho toppings, this looked similar to a nacho pizza. Served in a large pan, with the tortilla chips placed flat on the pan and covered in white cheddar, Monterey jack cheese, chorizo, black beans, smoked chili salsa and crema fresca. Great appetizer for a party of three or more to share.
For my entree, I opted for the huevos rancheros, which is always a favorite of mine. The dish included two fried eggs, chorizo sausage, black beans and avocado, served in a Mexican salsa and ranchero sauce. To complete the meal, we enjoyed a side dish of the restaurant’s amazing creamy poblano corn rice — an absolute must have!
My two friends both ordered the huevos and chorizo, a make-your-own taco dish. It includes flour tortillas with scrambled eggs, chorizo, pico de gallo, black beans, guacamole and crema. I was lucky enough to have a taste and it was delicious as well. I think I will order this on my next brunch visit to El Vez.
This brunch will certainly not be forgotten, not only because of the amazing food, but because I have photos to remember it by, thanks to the restaurant’s own photo booth. I loved this idea!
I highly recommend El Vez as it offers delicious food and drink options, as well as a fun and lively atmosphere. I will definitely be back!
