Lyft Promotes Rides in the Ghostbusters Ecto-1

In celebration of the recently released Ghostbusters movie, Lyft offered rides in a replica of the Ecto-1 for one weekend in July. Fans of the franchise could request a Lyft to pick them up and take them to a destination in full “ghost mode.”

The promotional weekend took place before the film´s release date in cities across the United States, including New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and San Francisco. On select days between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., Lyft users could track the Ecto-1 through their respective city and request a ride in the famous vehicle. Riders also were gifted with the 80s- and 90s-era beverage Hi-C Ecto Cooler and movie-themed Twinkies. The glorious green juice pairs perfectly with the sweet treat every child was snacking on surrounding the popularity of the original film, released in 1984.

The limited time promotion has come and gone, but the excitement surrounding the film´s release and the ability to ride in the movie´s iconic car may prompt Lyft to join forces with other movie franchises in the future.
