Having grown up near Washington, D.C., I’ve visited many of the city’s numerous restaurants, but none of them have left such a lasting impression as Blue Duck Tavern. This rustic, artisan eatery serving up American traditional fare is easily one of the best in the city and I’ve yet to hear a bad review from anyone who’s gone.
During my latest trip, I sat down with friends and was able to munch on a few items I’d yet to try. I’m not the biggest seafood fan in the world, but their version of branzino was absolutely delicious. I found myself stealing bites of it off a friend’s plate during dinner, much to her annoyance.
She was taking just as many bites of my oven-roasted bone marrow though, so she doesn’t get to complain. If you’ve never tried bone marrow before (as I hadn’t), this is definitely the place to give it a go.
The real winner of a Blue Duck Tavern meal is always the dessert and their famous apple pie. Throw caution to the wind and go ahead and order a few slices; your diet can wait another day.
The menu is a little expensive, to be honest, so it’s not someplace you can plan on going every weekend. However, the food is spectacular and the atmosphere elegant and inviting. It’s the perfect place to go if you want to impress a date or have family in town and want to show them the best D.C. has to offer.

If you’ve ever attempted to work on the go — not necessarily for a business trip, but just because your job offers the flexibility of remote working — you may have struggled with working from your hotel room.
