Cuban ballet has become one of the most important schools in the world, and the biannual Havana Ballet Festival is a huge event for the world ballet community.
There is a ballet festival scheduled for Oct. 26, and events will run until Nov. 2. More than 20 performances are already on the schedule, including several world premieres, and huge crowds are expected to descend on the Cuban capital.
Part of the reason for the success of the festival is its unique offering. There are few events in the world dedicated entirely to ballet, so the Havana ballet festival draws the biggest names in the business.
Events take place at the Gran Teatro de La Habana. Attendees will be amazed by the grandeur of the venue and the quality of the dancing. The event offers an opportunity to experience communist Cuba in all of its idiosyncrasies, and really shouldn’t be missed.
If you want to go, it’s worth organizing a trip early. The festival takes place at the beginning of peak tourist season on the island, and demand for accommodations is sure to be high. Try to stay in Old Havana or Centro Habana for easy access to events and tourist sites.
